Rangkuman Materi, Contoh Soal Past Future Tense Jawaban & Pembahasannya

Past future tense adalah aturan waktu alam bahasa Inggris yang digunakan untuk menyatakan peristiwa atau kejadian yang akan terjadi atau akan dilakukan di masa lampau. Bisa dipahami ya? Sama seperti jenis tense yang lainnya, past future tense juga memiliki dua bentuk utama, yaitu bentuk predikat kata kerja (verbal form) dan bentuk predikat bukan kata kerja alias yang berpelengkap (nonverbal from). Perhatikan penjelasan di bawah ini tentang past future!

VERBAL FORM (Menggunakan predikat kata kerja)

Bentuk predikat berkata kerja dari past future terdiri dari tiga: bentuk positif (positive/declarative), bentuk negatif (negative/declarative), dan bentuk tanya (interrogtive).

Positive

Bentuk positif dari past future menggunakan kata kerja bantu past modal (would) + infinitive verb (verb 1)

Negative

Bentuk negatif dari past future  yaitu dengan menggunakan NOT atau NEVER setelah will baru ditambahkan infinitive verb (verb 1)

Penanda tense yang lazim digunakan dalam past future tense adalah: penggunaan konjungsi if (jika): …past future + IF + simple past (verb 2/did not/were/could)

Contoh:

Positive

• Merita, a professional singer, would entertain the guests with her melodious voice if she got permission from the event organizer.

  (Merita, seorang penyanyi profesional, akan menghibur tamu dengan suaranya  yang merdu itu pun jika penyeleggara acara memberinya izin)

Negative

Interrogative

Sama seperti jenis tense yang lain, jenis pertanyaan dalam past future juga dibagi dua: auxiliary atau yes/no-question dan informative/W/H-question. Perhatikan pola di bawah ini!

Auxiliary or Yes/No-Question (Apakah….akan …)

W/H or Informative Question     

Catatan:

• Yes/No-Question = Pertanyaan yang diawali dengan would dan menghendaki jawaban yes or no
• W/H–Question      =Pertanyaan informatif yang di awali dengan what/when/where /who/why/how

Contoh:

Auxiliary atau yes/no-question

Yes/No atau informative question

NON-VERBAL FORM

Bentuk non-verbal selalu menggunakan komplemen yang terdiri dari kata sifat (adjective), kata benda (noun), dan keterangan tempat (adverb of place)

Contoh:

1. Romeo, a new clerk, would be a tax consultant for all customers coming to him. (Noun phrase)

   (Romeo, pegawai baru, akan menjadi seorang konsultan pajak untuk semua pelanggan yang datang kepadanya)

2. That wowan would be very furious to that naughty boy that just trespassed and ruined her garden. (Adjective phrase)

   (Wanita tersebut akan begitu murka ke si anak nakal tersebut yang baru saja menerobos dan merusak kebunnya)

3. Those famous artists would be in the exhibition building to see and enjoy the great works from young artists. (Adverb of place)

   (Para seniman terkenal itu akan berada di gedung pameran untuk melihat dan menikmati karya-karya hebat dari para seniman muda)

PENGGUNAAN PAST FUTURE TENSE YANG LAINNYA

Menyatakan suatu pengandaian atau peristiwa yang tidak mungkin terjadi sekarang karena ada syarat yang tidak terpenuhi di waktu sekarang ini. Jadi boleh itu seperti khayalan di masa sekarang.

Contoh:

1. If Najwa Shihab were the Law Minister of Indonesia, she would repair the law system in Indonesia.(Jika Najwa Shihab adalah Menteri Hukum Indonesia, dia akan memperbaiki sistem hukum di Indonesia)

2. The patients would be healthy soon if they paid more to the hospital for the extra-medical treatment.(Para pasien akan cepat sehat jika mereka membayar lebih ke rumah sakit untuk mendapatkan perawatan kesehatan eksta)

PEMBAHASAN :

Ingat, time clue (penanda waktu)  yang lazim digunakan dalam past future adalah dengan adanya if clause berbentuk simple past (If Sebastian carried a heavy suitcase alone). Maka kita gunakan past future tense. (My father, of course, would help him to carry it.)

Pola negatif yang benar untuk past future adalah menggunakan S + Would not/Wouldn’t + Verb 1. Maka kalimat Chiko wouldn’t guide the tourists if he did not get the extra fee sudah benar secara tata bahasa Inggris (English grammar). Perbaikan untuk opsi yang lainnya:
